Paragliding challenge accepted

Hi Friend!

In my last poll, 75% of readers voted for me to try paragliding, an adventure sport of flying parachutes with gliding capabilities. I was lucky to have Paraglide Maui’s owner, Paul Gurrieri as my tandem pilot. Future guest speaker for my class? Obviously :)

• Designing an entrepreneurship class for Harvard-Westlake School in Los Angeles thanks to an introduction from Garage alum, Zach Scott (Thanks, Zach!)

• Grabbing brunch at Belly with retired Northwestern entrepreneurship professor Verinder Syal, aka Prof

• Sitting front row, center watching Shoot Ogawa - the best sleight of hand magician in the world - perform at the Fairmont Kea Lani Hotel

👎 Lowlight

• I was so excited to go humpback whale watching with the Pacific Whale Foundation, but I got seasick and spent the entire boat ride throwing up 🤢

From My Class

I ended the spring semester of my Entrepreneurship and Business Fundamentals class at Seabury Hall with a visit to KT Surfing. Keith Teboul, cofounder of KT Surfing, Quatro, and Goya Windsurfing, epitomized a key theme of the class, combining your skills and passions to build a business aligned with your personal purpose. After 25 years, Keith loves what he does and his drive to innovate has made him one of the most renowned board shapers in the world.

🎓Kindergarten Grad

Carter graduated from kindergarten! My favorite part of his school is that the kids are called in from recess… by the teacher blowing a conch shell.

🍍Agriculture Tourism

With six of the 14 world climate zones, a diversity of crops can be grown on Maui year-round. Maui is home to over 800 farms, and thanks to some enterprising entrepreneurs, many offer tours.

Did you know?

The Hawaiian alphabet has only 13 characters: twelve letters (a, e, i, o, u, h, k, l, m, n, p, w) and the 'okina, a glottal stop. All Hawaiian words end in a vowel, and consonants are always followed by a vowel. One of the longest Hawaiian words is Humuhumunukunukuapua'a, which means "triggerfish with a snout like a pig."
